Hanger appeal and the dangers of falling in love with clothes in the store.

Dear clients and Friends.. Today I want to talk about the dangers of Hanger Appeal and what it means when you are out shopping. I must confess, I have fallen for this so many times and so does many of my clients, and that is why I would like to help you with this.
We call hanger appeal the attractiveness of a garment when it is hanging on the hanger, but nine out of 10 times the garment do not look the same on the body than what it does on the hanger. You must keep in mind, that clothes hang differently on a mannequin or on the hanger. Also, the store are meant to look inviting and exciting, it is designed for you to want to spend your money. Even though it is not always pleasant, and you might feel that, if the clothing item looks good on the doll, it will look good on you aswell. WRONG!! It is always the best option to try the item on first. I have had scenarios when shopping with a client when we tried on the same item in different colours and the two colours do not match up in fit. Same designer, same garment, only different colours, and some how, one item looks better than the other. Difficult to grasp, but I suggest that you try on everything before shopping. The hanger appeal can also be reversed, where an item might look completely different on the hanger as it does on the body.
When trying on clothes you need to answer the following: Does this clothing item make me feel great - not okay, or good enough, but great? Can I match this item with at least two or three other items in my current wardrobe? Does this item, match my wardrobe colour palette and my skin tone colours? Does this item suit my personal style and the style that I'm trying to build for my wardrobe?
